Distance Hurts

"But, what if every single stumble, every challenge, every experience in our life was only intended for one purpose: to bring us back to our origin? What if every win, every loss, every beauty, every fall, every cruelty, and every smile was only intended to unveil another barrier between us and God? Between us and where we began, and where we desperately seeking to return?
What if everything was only about seeing Him?

'Those who do not know say, "Why does Allah not speak to us or there come to us a sign? Those spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain (in faith)'

If we can look beyond and through everything that happens to us, everything that we do - or fail to do - and see Allah, then we will have gotten the purpose. When something happens that you love, be careful not to miss the point. Remember that nothing happens for a reason. Seek it out. Look for the purpose Allah created in what He has given to you. What aspect of His Essence is He showing you through it? What does He want from you?
Similarly, when something happens that you dislike, or that hurts you, be careful not to get lost in the illusion created by pain. Look through it. Find the message in the bottle. Find the purpose. And let it lead you to glimpse just a little more of Him."
          - Yasmin Mogahed

Came across her writing today while I was almost heading to a wreck. The fact that distance hurts may be deniable to some, but not to me I guess.

Distance hurts when at a certain point you became absolutely clueless where to continue, hoping that someone from the outside or the passer-by can tell you what to do next because you just can't.

Distance hurts when those close to you are kept oblivious of all your fretting and worrying, because there are no words to release them. Or that you are actually afraid by saying it out loud, those bad thoughts will manifest and come true.

Distance hurts as you sit close and look at those you love deep in the eye, you hope that they could hear your heart bawling for help. Shaking in agony and surrender, too tired to argue. How in that instance you crave for their comfort, and hear them say that it is okay not to feel okay. Just don't let it overwhelm your conscience.

And how intriguing that the heart is so close, yet sometimes we are unable to control.

Because we tend to get drowned in the intensity of the whole situation where we lost control of what is going to happen. Where we are always expected to do the best. Be the best. Forgetting actually that there is no such thing as BEST. Because this whole life is a journey, and however despairing everything looks at the moment, better things will turn up at the next pit stop. And the next one.

Without realization, we constantly let outer judgments shape our belief. Trusting we should act like this because the seemly happy person is also doing it. That right now this position we are in is so pitiful and not right, because everybody else seems to be higher thus full of joy. Valuing our worth based on how we are perceived, rather than letting the non-judgmental voice from within to guide us. The voice accompanying us through every pebble, rubble and climb of this wonderful journey.

If only we would open up ourselves to the bigger opportunities ahead. That this life will continue to evolve and give us more every time, as long as our hearts are ready to accept. As we make our way forward, and try to become better.

Then I remembered a piece of advice.

If it's Allah that you sought, continue your steps and you will find Him in the end. Because He will be so Great that He is impossible for you to miss.

La tahzan innallaha ma'ana.
